Virtual Display: Native American Heritage Month

This month, we are celebrating Native American Heritage Month! It was celebrated for the first time 1916 in New York. Red Fox James, a Blackfeet Native American, rode horseback from state to state, getting endorsements from 24 state governments, to have a day to honor Native Americans. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed a joint congressional resolution designating November 1990 as "National Native American Heritage Month."

It is important during this month to educate yourself on the culture, history, and significant figures of Native Americans. Here, you will find videos, books, primary sources, and additional links to help you get started. Let us know what you think by answering our poll!
